NOTES

Simple, cable repeat. Easily modified for toe-up construction.

  • Cast On 16 stitches each needle, 32 total for the toes

  • R1 - knit around * R2 - R5 K1, M1R, knit to last 2 stitches, M1L, K1 each needle

  • R6-R19 - repeat rows 1-2, until 24 stitches each needle

  • Start pattern chart R20 *4" to end of foot begin increase rows (back needle only), K, M1R, knit to two stitches until the end, M1L, K, every other row until 46 stitches are on back needle

  • (if too soon for heel turn, knit in pattern front needle, and knit back no needle no increases)

  • Fleegle heel

  • continue to work pattern front needle, decrease back needle stitches to 24 stitches, and begin 1x1 rib for back of leg

  • approx. 2" from desired cuff length 1x1 rib around, 11 rows, cast off with larger 3 mm needle, and weave in ends

MODIFICATIONS

  • Toe-up, Two-at-a-time

  • 1 Circular needle, 2.5 mm (US 1.5), 47"

  • Increased until 24 stitches on each needle, 48 stitches

  • Fleegle Heel

  • 1x1 ribbing back of leg

  • Once I knit to a comfortable comfortable leg height, 1x1 ribbing (for 11 rows, before cast off with size 3 mm needle)

  • No cable needle method

  • Used garage sale yarn

NOTES

Simple, lace repeat, cuff-down (top-down) sock.

Number of leaf repeats (so far): 3 leaf leg repeats; decreased 4 rows in a row at the heel immediately, and then switched to every other row; 3 leaf repeats foot; winged the toe switching between decrease rows and knit rows - sometimes doing decreases one after the other if it felt good on the foot; left 8 stitches before using Kitchener stitch to finish off the toe.

MODIFICATIONS

  • Two-at-a-time, 1 circular needle (47")

  • magic loop

  • 2.25mm (US 1) needle

FINAL THOUGHTS

  • Nice, free sock pattern. Possible future modifications: (1) Will use 2.5mm needle for cast on; (2) change to toe-up sock pattern.

NOTES

Simple, colorwork, cuff-down (top-down) sock.

MODIFICATIONS

  • Try 1- (56 stitches, size S, US size 7.5 foot) on 2.25 mm needles. UPDATE: produces close-fitting sock

  • Birch color - cuff, heel, toe

  • Inkwell - colorwork contrast color

  • Poppy Shop Yarn - main color Two-at-a-time, one circular needle, cuff down

  • Knit all 50 rounds for leg.

  • For heel; SL = purlwise

  • 2/2/2020: For two-at-at-time, cuff-down - switched gusset decrease and toe decrease for one circular needle.

FINAL THOUGHTS

  • Nice, free sock pattern. Possible future modifications: (1) swap toe pattern [chart B] for under cuff pattern; (2) change to toe-up sock pattern.
